As an interior design student, nothing gets me more excited than looking for apartment decor and spending hours finding the best apartment decor ideas. Creating spaces that make people feel at home from the very first moment they step in, is what I want to do with my life, and even though I am not doing it professionally yet, the world of interior design and decoration amazes me.
I am obsessed with many many decoration and furniture shops, some more affordable than others, but you know it’s always my aim to provide you with as many options in different budgets as I can.
Now that CB2 is finally shipping to the UK you’ll see lots of things from them, but Zara Home and H&M Home will be very present in this article as well. You know that my email is always open to you guys so don’t hesitate to ask for links, ideas, suggestions, anything!
This post is all about the best apartment decor ideas.
LIVING ROOM DECOR
1. Candle Holders
Candles are one of my biggest obsessions and I love how versatile they are. Obviously, they make the room smell nice, but they are great apartment decor items. I’ve heard a lot of people say that CB2 is expensive but this amazing candle holder is around £20 and I think it’s absolutely worth it.
Other beautiful Candle holders:
This marble and brass candle holder from CB2 would look beautiful on a shelf with some books or on a coffee table.
These Zara Home candle holders are very classic but elegant, perfect if you are going for a more traditional look.
2. Throw Blanket and Basket
Blankets and all sorts of textile items add a lot of character to any room and are great apartment decor ideas, and of course, they are for you to use and feel all cosy when watching a film. For design and organization purposes I recommend you to have a cute basket in a corner to store your blankets.
3. Coffee Table Decorations
Decorating your coffee table will make your living room look professionally put together, I promise. You can also add trays, candles, books – scroll down for the BEST apartment decor books – anything you like really. These two are some of my favourite apartment decor ideas:
Other beautiful coffee table decorations:
These agate coasters from Anthropologie are stunning and perfect to add a little colour to your coffee table without being too much.
This marble tray from CB2 is one of the best apartment decor ideas if you like entertaining and hosting parties.
4. Couch Pillows
If you didn’t know, I am telling you now: couch pillows are a must-have. Couch pillows are extremely important and really easy to play with. Make sure you are incorporating the colour scheme of your room, maybe by matching the texture and colour of the curtains or the rug. Make sure you mix textures, patterns and shapes! These are some of my favourite apartment decor ideas:
5. Coffee Table Books
One of my absolute favourite apartment decor ideas is decorating with pretty books. There are hundreds of amazing books that are worth reading and look amazing in an apartment. I have an incredibly long list of these books and I thought about putting a post together if that is something you’d be interested in reading about. Let me know in the comments!
6. Dried Flowers
Dried flowers and stems are the new trend in interior design greenery, and I can understand why. Especially if you are all about natural colours, this would look amazing on a coffee table with a couple of books and a pretty vase.
BEDROOM DECOR
7. Nightstand decorations
My favourite apartment decor is bedroom-oriented. I love decorating my nightstand and finding practical and cute items like these two lovely pieces. I love a pretty tray on my nightstand because it stops me from losing all the jewellery I own.
8. Table Lamp
I love a big lamp for my nightstand, full of personality and character. CB2 and West Elm have some of the best apartment decor ideas if only I had all the money in the world to invest in them!
Other beautiful lamps:
This Overstock lamp has gorgeous details and it’s perfect if you like a more traditional type of lamp.
On the other hand, this brass lamp from Anthropologie is really modern and looks insanely good.
9. Full-length Mirror
Full-length mirrors are such amazing apartment decor ideas. They make rooms look a lot bigger and if you have big windows will amplify the natural light in the space. Home depot has amazing mirrors for a decent price, you need to check them out!
10. Bedding
Bedding is SO important!! You can have the most beautiful furniture, if the bedding doesn’t make sense, you will be ruining your bedroom. Pick whatever colour works for you and the design you are going for, but neutrals are always winners.
I never recommend white bedsheets because they give a cold and sterile look that I hate, try with off-white or beige instead.
11. Throw Blanket
You need a throw blanket at the end of the bed to complete the look in your bedroom, is a must and one of my favourite apartment decor ideas. I love the waffle pattern, it’s really fun and looks very elegant on top of beige or off-white cotton bedding.
12. End of Bed Bench
If you are going for the professional-designed look you need a bench at the end of your bed. You can find thousands of different styles depending on the look you are going for, as well as very different price tags. These two are completely different but I couldn’t choose which one I like better.

13. Small Candles
One of the best apartment decor ideas for your bedroom is to add small candles here and there to make the bedroom look cosier. I love H&M candles because they are very pretty, smell amazing and are very inexpensive.
BATHROOM DECOR
14. Laundry Basket
There is nothing sexy about dirty clothes, but somehow H&M managed to get me excited over a laundry basket. I love natural materials and neutral tones – what a surprise – and I am in love with these baskets.
15. Towel Hooks
You need towel hooks anyway, so why not making them extra cute and special? These clear towel hooks from Anthropologie are really pretty and you can get them in different shades if you are more than one in the house. Lovely apartment decor ideas.
16. Makeup & Jewelry Organizer
You can have the best apartment decor ideas, but if your bathroom is messy they won’t make a difference. A pretty makeup & jewelry organizer is a very good way to keep everything tidy and display your jewelry in a pretty way.
17. Bath Mat
These might not be for everyone, but I think they add a little humour, which I love! I am obsessed with apartment decor ideas that make me smile when I see them, and I know either of these would.
18. Flower Vase
Adding a little greenery to your bathroom will make you feel like you an in a spa. Don’t worry if they are fake, we’ve all been there. Placing a vase with some pretty flowers on your sink will elevate the overall look of your bathroom.

19. Bathtub Caddy
There is nothing I love more than apartment decor ideas that promote self-care and having a moment to yourself. I love having a bath every now and then and having a place to put my wine and my book sounds like music to my ears.
KITCHEN DECOR
20. Large Utensil Holder
The best apartment decor ideas for the kitchen are those which are practical and help you keep the space tidy and ready to cook. I’ve seen a million tiny utensil holders that make everything look cluttered, but after looking for hours I found this one and it’s stunning and the perfect size.
21. Salt and Pepper Bowls
I love apartment decor ideas that are original and you don’t see often. These little stone bowls are very pretty and would look amazing accompanied by other golden cutlery. You can find these little cute things in 3 different colours and one of them has black metal instead of golden.
22. Fruit Bowl
We love eating fruit and always have tons at home, so a fruit bowl for us is really important. We love gold and have accents of it around the house and this leave bowl is perfect. I love having my fruit visible, to me, it has the same effect as having some greenery.
23. Cheese Board
Cheeseboard nights are a very big thing over here and we like ours big and pretty. We use to have a circular one that wasn’t very practical and this one from Anthropologie is the exact one we have right now, it’s perfect in size if you entertain often.
24. Geode Coaster
Anthropologie has these in so many colours that I can’t choose which ones I one for my house. These are perfect apartment decor ideas if you have a little drinks corner in your kitchen or even a drinks cart. They would also look good on a coffee table.
25. Cake Stand
These are two very different cake stands with two very different price tags, but they are both beautiful and I couldn’t decide between the two. I love how elegant and sophisticated the marble one looks but I am a sucker for the cosiness and warmth that wood adds to a room. I’m going to leave this one for you to decide.

I literally love everything you have suggested in this post. I would totally redecorate my entire house right now with all the beautiful gold accessories but sadly, the husband has put me on a ban as I’ve done more than enough to our rented home. I will, however, bookmark this for when I can start redecorating again.
Love your style! I have the geode coasters and they are so adorable.I love those dried flowers. They are so trendy lately. I might have to add some to my space.
I totally agree with using mirrors to brighten up and open small spaces, especially floor length ones. Funny, though, I never thought of Home Depot as a place to go to for them, I’ll have to check them out!
