Staying organized and planning things ahead is one of the most important things if you want to be successful in college. Even in high school, I would create tons of lists of things to do for the day, the week and the month, so I always knew what was going on and could create a plan for it.
If you are moving to college soon, you need to start thinking about what college essentials you’ll need to bring and start deciding all the things you could possibly need in a year, and that can get overwhelming really quickly.
This college packing list goes through absolutely everything you will need and more, and it’s made after the actual college dorm checklist I used when I moved in. These are all things you will ACTUALLY use every day, some of them might be surprising, but believe me when I say that there are some things you don’t want to miss.
This post goes over everything you need to have for college in a college packing list. Our college dorm checklist has 9 categories: Documentation, Electronics, Bedding, Kitchen, Clothing, Bathroom, Cleaning Supplies, College Supplies and Random. COLLEGE PACKING LIST: Best Bedding Supplies
My first night at uni halls – college dorms – was ROUGH. College beds are known for being really uncomfortable, and it is so true. After that first night, I started a quest to make my bed somehow comfortable, and I ended up having a bed that was nicer than the one at home, thanks to my amazing mattress topper.
I would recommend having a spare set of bed sheets, I know some people say it’s not necessary but I helped me changed the decoration of my room every now and then, which is nice in such boring bedrooms.
The biggest piece of advice I can give you when it comes to your college dorm is to keep things nice and tidy. I will make a massive difference in your mental health and overall productivity. Things you should definitely include in your college dorm checklist:
– Mattress Topper: This is the exact topper I used in my first year and it made my bed SO comfortable.
– Bed Sheets: A couple of sets of bed sheets will make your life a lot easier. Shein has thousands of models at amazing prices.
– 4 Seasons Duvet: I spent a whole summer selling bed sheets and bedding, and the 4 seasons duvet was the most asked for. I ended up buying one for myself and now I can’t live without it.
COLLEGE PACKING LIST: Best Bathroom Supplies
Planning what to bring to college can be really overwhelming but with our college packing list it’ll be a lot easier, I promise.
As for toiletries, what bathroom supplies you should bring is really personal, but here are some things that are included in your college dorm checklist and you won’t regret bringing.
– Hair Wrap: If you don’t have one of these hair wraps, you really need one. They are really comfy and convenient, it’s the best thing.
– Makeup Organizer: Doing your makeup and making a mess are two highly related variants, so I always recommend including a makeup organizer to your college dorm checklist.
COLLEGE PACKING LIST: Best Electronics
Electronics are vital in a student’s life, and I’ve included some of my favourite recommendations in this college dorm checklist. Remember that this and the rest of categories are included in your FREE college packing list + 5 amazing college printables.
– White Noise Machine: Uni dorms are really noisy with so many people going in and out all the time. This White Noise Machine literally saved me from not sleeping on 1st year, it’s THE BEST thing ever.
– 2M Phone Charger: A 2m phone charger is one of those small investments that will make your life a lot easier.
– 2 USB sticks: Sometimes it’s not very practical to go around with a big storage disk, so having multiple USB sticks is very handy.

What you’ll have to bring in terms of kitchen supplies depends on your college dorms – uni halls – so check with them first before going shopping. – Coffee Machine: Buying a coffee machine will save you A LOT of money in the long run, believe me.
– Water Bottle: Carrying a water bottle with you will save you a lot of money and will help the environment.
– Slow Cooker: A slow cooker should definitely be part of your college packing list. They are really easy to use and make amazing meals.

The category in which I spent the most money in college – and I still do – is stationery. I love all things planners, notebooks, pens and anything that has to do with it.
