It can be really difficult to actually use your uni dorm ideas because you’re not allowed to paint, mark the walls or make tiny changes. This doesn’t mean that your bedroom can’t feel yours.
You probably have started to scroll on Pinterest but the truth is: you won’t have much space, so the pallet furniture you’ve fallen in love with might be out of the conversation.
If you’re looking for cute and cheap ways to make your room feel a bit more like home, these uni dorm ideas got you covered.
Use plants to bring life into the room
I love plants in bedrooms for two reasons: they clean the air and look amazing. If you are terrible at keeping them alive, get them fake, it’ll be our secret.
Rugs
This is my favourite way to change a room completely. Rugs bring coziness and style to a room. It also makes them look bigger and colours like white or cream will add extra light.

Wall decorations
Whether it is a poster, stickers or pictures of your friends and family, wall decorations are a great accessory to any bedroom and they add a lot of character.
Mood/ Inspo Boards
I’ve been really into mood boards for the past couple of months and they’ve helped me massively. Apart from being an amazing decoration item, they helped me focus when I was creating this blog. I would stick quotes, pictures, inspiration, and colours to keep in mind what I wanted to achieve.
Hang frames
I’m pretty sure that you’re not allowed to actually hang anything on the walls, but I have a secret for you: COMMAND HOOKS. They don’t leave marks and are pretty resistant. They’ll allow you to create beautiful frame decorations.
Bed Sheets
Sheets can completely change the look of a room. I have a million different sets and changing them is a great way to redecorate my bedroom.
Invest in a throw
There’s nothing cozier than a throw or a knitted blanket. You can even use them on your chair and make your desk look more glamourous.
Side lights
Uni bedroom lights tend to be really bright and cold, which can make you feel like you’re in a hospital room – I’m not joking. One of the things I never thought I needed and made a huge difference in my uni life was getting a couple of nice sidelights.
Fairy lights
Of course I was going to mention fairy lights. And here I will say one thing only: The more, the better. Use them to make photo walls, under your bed, on the desk, EVERYWHERE. I love them and you will too.
Cushions
Adding cushions to your bed or your chair will make your room feel homier. They make spaces look less empty and are really useful. Like I always say, get some cheap ones from Primark and invest in different covers.
