This post is all about the best Uni dorm room essentials.
Some of you might be about to decide whether you want to live in Uni halls next year or rent a bedroom or apartment.
In my opinion, halls is the best option in freshers year. It allows you to meet a lot of people out of your degree that you wouldn’t have met otherwise. You’ll be in the center of the activity during the first weeks and it’ll make a huge difference in your social life.
There are some essentials I can promise you will change the way you live in halls. I’ll give you a couple of tips on how to make your uni room look “cool” and feel more like home as well.
You can also download the uni checklist I made when I moved in.
Check the best Uni dorm room essentials:
1- Mattress Topper
I didn’t know I needed this until my first night at halls. That bed almost broke my back until my topper arrived.
I got a pretty thick one to make sure the layer between my body and that bed was big enough, and it made a huge difference, almost as comfy as my bed back home. This is the one I used:
2- Power Strip
My bedroom had quite a few outlets but I definitely had more things to plug in. I got this one with room for USB chargers and my bedroom became THE bedroom for study sessions and sleepovers.
3- Student Kitchen Starter Pack
I didn’t get this and I’ve regretted it since. I got all my stuff separately and ended up spending SO much more than this, and forgetting a lot of stuff too.
The Student Box by Noah is perfect if you don’t want to spend hours researching what you need and going from one place to another to get everything. Also, you’ll save A LOT of money. It has more than 60 items – including bedding – and they are the best quality. If you don’t need something, easy, change it for something else or don’t pay for it.
4- Waterproof speaker
Having a speaker is a must at uni, and if it’s waterproof you tick two boxes in one go. If you are a shower performer like me be careful because my showers began lasting 2h when I got this.
I didn’t do this on my first year and I wish I did. I spent a lot of money printing at the library or in town and having to go there every time I needed something was incredibly annoying.
Ink is quite expensive but you can split the price with your roomie and you’ll both see how useful it is to have one.
We start with the essential non-essentials. This tips are to make your bedroom more cozy and to help you feel like home.
I am a huge fan of pillows – sometimes I even make them – they make your bed look a lot better and help you feel comfier. I recommend you to buy the pillows from Primark or Amazon and get a couple of covers to change them every now and then.
7- Tote bag
Or a big backpack, that’s on you. Personally, as a fashion victim, I prefer cute tote bags. They allow me to carry everything – I feel like Hermione with her endless bag – and they match with my outfits.
